Terms of use
These terms are the agreement between you and Transkribe Inc ("we") for using the Transkribe app and website. By creating an account or using Transkribe, you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data.
1. Who can use Transkribe
You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EU and UK) and able to agree to these terms. If you use Transkribe for an organization, you confirm you're allowed to accept these terms for it.
2. Your account
- You can try Transkribe without signing up. A trial account has no email address, so it can't be recovered if you sign out or lose your phone, and it's deleted after 30 days without use unless you create an account.
- Keep your sign-in details safe. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Delete account) or as described on our account deletion page.
3. Recording other people
You're responsible for recording lawfully. Recording laws differ by place; in many, everyone in the conversation must agree to be recorded. Tell people you're recording and get any consent the law requires. Don't record conversations you have no right to record.
4. What you may not do
- Break the law, or infringe anyone's privacy, copyright or other rights, with Transkribe.
- Upload content that you don't have the right to process.
- Interfere with the service: overload it, probe it for vulnerabilities, get around its limits (for example by creating accounts to get more free minutes), or access other people's data.
- Copy, resell or reverse-engineer the service, or use automated means to access it, except as the law allows.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
5. Your content
Your recordings, transcripts, notes and anything you type stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them only to provide Transkribe to you: to transcribe, summarize, translate and answer your questions, using the service providers listed in our privacy policy. We don't use your content to train AI models, and we don't sell it. When you delete a recording or your account, we delete the content as described in the privacy policy.
6. Free plan, limits and fair use
The free plan includes a set number of transcription minutes each month (shown in the app), which reset on the 1st. Trial accounts have a smaller allowance. Some features have limits to keep the service fair and affordable, such as upload sizes and daily Ask AI questions. When the service is under unusual load, we may pause new transcriptions on the free plan for a few hours. Your recordings are kept and you can retry later.
7. Paid plans
When paid plans are available, you buy them through the App Store or Google Play. They renew automatically until you cancel in your store account settings, and the store's rules apply to billing and refunds. Paid plans include a fair-use allowance of recording time, shown before you buy. If we change a price, the new price applies from your next renewal after we tell you.
8. AI-generated output
Transcripts, summaries, translations and answers are produced automatically and can contain mistakes: misheard words, wrong speakers, missing or inaccurate points. Check anything important against the recording before you rely on it, especially for medical, legal, financial or other high-stakes decisions.
9. The service, and changes to it
We work to keep Transkribe running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. We may change, add or remove features. If we stop offering Transkribe, we'll give you reasonable notice and a way to export your data first (Settings → Export my data).
10. Disclaimer
To the extent the law allows, Transkribe is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, data or business. Our total liability for any claim about Transkribe is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$50. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer where you live.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.
13. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll update this page and its effective date. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Transkribe after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, you can delete your account.
